| DTA Principal represents Private Schools on Nevada Education Committee |
7/2/2008 Rabbi Rodman, Principal of Desert Torah Academy, was recently chosen to represent all private schools on the Nevada Department of Education Title One Committee. The Rabbi explained, “Title One funds are used to help students who are having educational problems and whose family live in a relatively low income area. Desert Torah Academy, in keeping with Chabad philosophy, tries to provide a Jewish education to all Jewish children, regardless of their ability and their family’s income.” more... |

4/30/2008 The local news is constantly filled with troubling stories of either school violence or inappropriate contact by teachers on students. Local public schools are even putting in metal detectors because of concerns of students bringing weapons to school. These concerns are one of the main reasons parents often choose to send their children to a private or parochial school.

| DESERT TORAH ACADEMY HIRES SECULAR STUDIES PRINCIPAL |
3/25/2008 Rabbi Shea Harlig, Director of Chabad of Southern Nevada and Mrs. Dina Harlig, Director of Desert Torah Academy, are pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Phyllis Meckley as DTA’s Principal of Secular Studies. Dr. Meckley comes to DTA enormously prepared to assume her new position. She has a BA in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina, a Masters Degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Penn State and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Temple University.
